Jun

The Dean and Chapter of Southwark have extended a welcome to Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai of Zimbabwe.

On Saturday 20 June at 1pm, following prayers for the people of Zimbabwe led by the Dean, the Very Reverend Colin Slee, Mr Tsvangirai will address Zimbabweans and their friends in Southwark Cathedral. The event will finish at 3pm.

The Diocese of Southwark is closely linked to four of the Anglican Church’s Dioceses in Zimbabwe; it is therefore a natural and appropriate venue for Mr Tsvangirai to use.

Sun 5th July - A Community Occasion

Jun
07

We look forward to welcoming back Revd David and Mrs Pat Ward on Sunday 5th July.

David was Vicar of St Paul’s from 1987-93 and did a wonderful job in building up the life of the parish following some lean years immediately preceding his appointment.

It is planned that David will preside over an informal and child-friendly Family Communion service at 10.30am, much of which will be led by our present Vicar Chris Hollingshurst , but which will also see Eric Heather and Ian Reid revisiting their one-time partnership with David at the front of St Paul’s.

March on Mars

St Paul's has been supporting Stop the Traffik as it campaigns to highlight and stop human traffiking.

One of its biggest campaigns has been around the use of trafficked child labour in the cocoa industry. It has had some success, with Cadbury's undertaking not to use cocoa from such sources in their Dairy Milk range.

But Mars has been very slow in responding to concerns.

GAZA: WORLDS AWAY?

The Co-Chairs of the Christian-Muslim Forum have made this statement:

As the co-chairs of the Christian Muslim Forum we are deeply distressed by the news of hundreds dead in Gaza and deaths in Israel.

We are representatives of global faiths which both have their heartlands in the Middle East. Conflict in the Middle East affects both of our communities of faith, and our Jewish sisters and brothers, wherever we live.
